Every Moment Has Its Story

Each person and event on the timeline opens its own page, with an illustration, its date, and the passages of Scripture that tell its story. Where a date is worked out from the ages Genesis gives, the page quotes the verses behind the numbers, so you can check them yourself.

Ten Eras, One Story

From the Patriarchs and the Exodus through the kings, the prophets and the Exile to the life of Christ and the early Church.

People Side by Side

Each life is drawn as a span, so you can see at a glance who knew whom and which generations overlapped.

Dated from Scripture

The earliest chapters are reckoned from the ages Genesis itself gives, counting the years from Adam.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the timeline cover?

The timeline runs from Adam to the Apostolic Church in ten eras: Creation to Babel, the Patriarchs, Egypt and the Exodus, Conquest and Judges, the United Kingdom, the Divided Kingdom, Exile and Return, Greek Rule and the Maccabees, the Life of Christ, and the Apostolic Church. Each era places its people and events side by side, so you can see who lived at the same time.

How are the early dates worked out?

For the earliest chapters of Genesis, the timeline counts years from Adam. Genesis gives each father's age at his son's birth, each life's length, and dates like the Flood in Noah's six hundredth year. Adding them places everything in order, so the Flood falls in year 1656 and Abram is born in year 1948.

Is the Biblical Timeline free?

The first era, Creation to Babel, is open to everyone. Every era's name, range and summary can be read by anyone, and the people and events of the later eras are part of My Daily Bread Premium.
