Magdala
Magdala was a fishing town on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee, known in antiquity for its trade in salted fish. It is remembered above all as the home of Mary Magdalene, from whom Jesus cast out seven demons and who became a faithful follower. She stood by the cross and was among the first to encounter the risen Lord.
