Elijah

Elijah stood against the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel and called down fire to prove that the Lord alone is God. Worn down and afraid, he met God not in wind or earthquake but in a still, small voice. Tradition holds he was taken up in a fiery chariot, and he appeared with Moses at the Transfiguration.
