James, Son of Zebedee
James, the son of Zebedee and brother of John, was a fisherman who left his nets to follow Jesus. Together with Peter and his brother, he belonged to the inner circle who witnessed the Transfiguration and the agony in the garden. He became the first of the apostles to be martyred for his faith.
