Perea

Perea was the territory east of the Jordan River, often described in the Gospels simply as the region beyond the Jordan. Jesus ministered and taught there during his journeys toward Jerusalem, drawing crowds who came to be healed. It lay within the lands ruled by Herod Antipas, who imprisoned John the Baptist.
